I’ve developed a nice list of free software for web developers to use, so all you people can stop wasting money on expensive stuff. I’m sure theres millions of these, but this is dedicated specifically for web developers. (Oh, and all of the free alternatives I have are on Windows, but 99% of them work on Linux too. And sometimes Mac.)
- Dreamweaver - Aptana (With PHP plugin)
- Windows Server - Linux server (Or for development server, XAMPP. Goes hand-in-hand with Aptana)
- Photoshop CS2 - The GIMP
- Mozilla Thunderbird
- Maya 3D - Blender (For the occasional 3D art I need to do)
- Winzip - 7-zip
- Corel Draw - Inkscape (Vector graphics)
- No Paid Alternative - Web Browsers: Netscape, Opera, IE7, and Firefox.
- No Paid Alternative - MultipleIE’s (For testing with IE 5.5 and 6)
So stop wasting money on buying expensive software, use the free alternatives!
